Every other month there comes out a massive patch with lots of great new content and often new landmasses. Since launch there have been 5 books (patches). Why they are called books actually is because with every patch there comes a new book, and a book is like a new part of the epic story line. All the epic story quests are named "Chapter <#>: <quest name>", and when you have done all the chapters for one book you go to the next one.
Here are the Trailers for Book 9, 10 and 12, and the Developer diaries for Book 12 and 13:
Book 9: Shores of Evendim
This is the trailer for the first downloadeble book that was coming out, Book 9: Shores of Evendim.
Book 10: The City of the Kings
This is the trailer for Book 10: The City of the Kings.
Sorry... But we got no content for Book 11!
Book 12: The Ashen Wastes
This is the trailer for Book 12: The Ashen Wastes...
...and this is the Dev diary for Book 12: The Ashen Wastes.
Book 13: The Doom of the Last-King
This is the Dev diary for Book 13: The Doom of the Last-King.
Sorry... But we got no content for Book 14: The Ring-forges of Eregion!

I think it was the one when the bones started to crack I was so happy and I remember that you and I ran around with broken legs just to hear the crack

I checked up what was new in book 14 and these are the highlights:
Eregion: Journey to where the Elven Rings were forged! Epic Quest: The epic quest continues with world events that open up the adventure to every player across all servers! Moria Prelude Quests: Aid the Fellowship of the Ring as they prepare to leave Rivendell and make their way toward Mordor. Dungeons: The loot dropped in all instances and raids is being upgraded, and bosses and mobs are being adjusted to make for even better play experiences! Now is the time to prepare for the dangers that dwell in Moria! Animation Improvements: LOTRO continues to polish the experience! Animations and sounds for each Minstrel skill using their equipped instrument (no longer just the Lute!) Monster play emote animations for Orc, Uruk, Spider and Warg New animations for 12 emotes – plus three new animated emotes!

I have read it all and it seems like another Hight-quality Update for Lord of the Rings Online This update seems more like a huge "fix-update" though. they are making small fixes everywhere but there are no greater elements to take note of exept the book and the new area and some other stuff.
Those things I use to enjoy the most in the books seem to be small things such as the water-splashings and bone-crackings in Book 11. In this book I really like that they have made a new picture for fireworks. Instead of using a picture of bacon there is a picture of actuall fireworks. xD
